19 Best General Physician Doctors for Diarrhea Treatment in Chennai, Tamil Nadu

Food poisoning (acute gastroenteritis) is an acute inflammation of the stomach and intestinal mucosa caused by ingestion of food or water contaminated with pathogenic bacteria (Salmonella, E. coli, Campylobacter), viruses (Norovirus, Rotavirus), or bacterial toxins (Staphylococcus aureus). In Chennai, street foods, improper food refrigeration in warm weather, and compromised water storage frequently trigger sudden outbreaks marked by nausea, forceful vomiting, profuse watery diarrhea, abdominal cramping, and dehydration.

General Physicians in Chennai immediately assess hemodynamic stability, degree of dehydration (skin turgor, dry mucous membranes, postural hypotension), and vital signs. Clinical intervention prioritizes aggressive oral rehydration therapy (WHO-ORS formulations) or intravenous fluid resuscitation for severe fluid loss, antiemetics to arrest vomiting, intestinal adsorbents, probiotics to restore gut microflora, and targeted antimicrobials for invasive bacterial enteritis.

Booking a consultation with experienced General Physicians in Chennai on NectarPlus Health ranges between around ₹500. Prompt medical management arrests fluid and electrolyte depletion, ensuring swift recovery and preventing hypovolemic complications.
