A diabetologist is a medical doctor who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of diabetes. They are experts in the treatment of diabetes and generally coordinate with other medical professionals to educate, treat, and monitor patients. 

Diabetologists treat patients with early or severe stages of diabetes. Treatment usually involves medications either orally or through Insulin injections. They may also coordinate with diabetic educators, nurses, podiatrists, ophthalmologists, and renal physicians.
